Matter Installation
See how to install Matter into Slack and add Matter to a Slack channel.
Steps in this guide
Click Add to Slack for Free on matterapp.com, or add Matter from Add Apps in Slack.
Make sure you're in the correct Slack workspace and click Allow.
Create a new Slack channel for Matter, or pick an existing public or private channel.
Add people to the channel; everyone in the channel is in Matter.
In the channel, click the @ symbol, select Matter, type install, and add Matter to the channel.
Look for the welcome kudos from MatterBot in the channel to confirm Matter is installed.
To add more people later, click Add People in the channel; they'll be in Matter within 24 hours.
Go to Apps > MatterBot and open the Home tab for quick actions, your coin balance, and your Matter dashboard.

Hi there, Sam from Matter here, and in this video, I'm gonna show you how you can install Matter inside your Slack workspace. More specifically, we're gonna walk through installing the app in the workspace, adding Matter to a Slack channel, and lastly, adding people to that channel and subsequently into Matter. Great, so it's really simple. First off, one person needs to install the app in your Slack workspace.
You can click Add Apps from Slack. For the sake of this video, we're going to go to matterapp.com. We're going to click on Add to Slack for Free button. Next, we're going to make sure we're in the correct Slack workspace and click Allow. This will add Matter directly into your Slack workspace. Next, we're going to want to add Matter into a Slack channel. This can be a new or existing public or private Slack channel. For the sake of this video, we're going to create a new Slack channel.
We're going to call it Matter test. And we're going to make it private. Next, you can add people into that Slack channel. Please note, whoever's in that Slack channel is in Matter. One quick note on the public versus private Slack channels. If it's a private Slack channel, you'll only be able to give kudos and engage with people who are in the Slack channel. If it's a public Slack channel, you can give kudos to people who are not in the Slack channel, and they'll be automatically added into the Slack channel and into Matter. As for the installation, we'll next go ahead and install Matter into the Slack channel.
Simply click the @ symbol, select Matter, and type install. Go ahead and add them to the channel. And that's it. You're successfully installed. That's simple. You'll know that you've been successfully installed when you see the welcome kudos given by MatterBot in the Slack channel. And so that's pretty much it. If you want to add more people into Matter, simply go up to the Slack channel here, click Add People, and add them directly in there, and they'll be within Matter within the next 24 hours.
Additionally, you can also now go to Apps, go to MatterBot, and then go in and view your Home tab. Here's where you can take quick actions, here, coin balance, go to a Matter dashboard for your settings, etcetera. So that's pretty much it.
