Hi there, Sam from Matter here, and in this video I'm going to show you how you can install Matter inside of Microsoft Teams. More specifically, we're going to walk through adding Matter to a Teams channel, as well as adding a pinnable Matter tab for easy access. First off, we're going to be inside of Microsoft Teams, and we're going to be in the chat section here, Chats and Channels. And so you can install Matter inside of a channel, inside of a team.
So, General is the channel, Matter Demo is the team. And so, you can use either an existing public or private team, and it has to be a public channel. Microsoft does not allow for apps to be installed in private channels. So, again, real quick, the team can be a public or private, but the channel has to be public. So, for the sake of the demo, we're going to go ahead and create a new Teams team. We're going to go to New Items at the top. Go down to New Team. We'll give it a team name here, call it Matter test.
It can be a private team, as I mentioned, and then we'll name the channel. Typically, we see companies do kudos or shout outs or Matter itself. Go ahead and create that team. Now, really important, you can add people to this Teams team. Whoever is in this Teams team is in Matter, so we base all the membership right inside of here. You can add one or more people, or you can add users from an existing team. We'll go ahead and do that for the sake of this demo. So whoever's in this Teams team is in Matter.
If we wanted somebody to remove, we could easily just go into the membership of that channel and remove those people and they'd be removed from Matter. Great, so now that we have our Teams channel, we can go ahead at the top and click Add a tab. We'll go ahead and search for Matter. And then we'll click Add. Give it a moment, and it's that simple. Confirm Matter has been successfully installed when the kudos is posted in the Teams channel. Additionally, you're going to see a few other things being added to your screen. A Matter tab at the top, which we'll come back to, as well as a red dot notification from Matter.
And also here, we can view more apps. We're going to first start off here and click on View More Apps. And then we're going to see Matter here as well. Click into Matter. And then this is our Matter at Home dashboard here inside of Teams. We're first off going to want to pin the tab for easy access. So right-click on the tab, click on Pin, and that's pinned for you. Please note that Matter will not be pinned for all users upon initial installation.
We'd recommend having your IT team automatically do this for new users inside of the Teams admin center. For more details on that installation, please refer to our respective help article in our Help Center. Great. So inside of this Home tab here is where you can customize this to your company's branding, admin tools, custom experience, avatar, cover photo, wallpaper, etcetera. You can use this for easy access, whether it be into the web dashboard, creating new channels, going to the Teams channel, or giving kudos directly from here. Great. Additionally, we're going to be in that Home tab. We're also going to see the Matter chat here at the top.
This is just direct messages you're going to receive from Matter. You can receive it both in this chat here, and you can also see that in the chat here in the Chats and Channels section with Matter as well. So two locations for essentially the same communication. Great. Last, we're going to go back into that Teams channel that we created, and we're going to go into the Matter tab here at the top. This is just another location here, inside of the Home tab here, where we can give kudos from and see our coin balance, redeem reward, and then also go into the web dashboard. Quite similar to the pinnable tab, and just another place for easy access. Great, so that's pretty much it.
