Matter can be installed in public, private, shared, and Slack Connect channels, making it flexible for different team structures and collaboration styles. For larger organizations, Matter also supports Slack Enterprise Grid with multiple Matter-connected channels managed from one centralized workspace.
Matter makes employee recognition easy to launch and easy to manage in Slack. Only one person needs to install Matter in Slack, add it to any desired channel, and whoever is in that Slack channel can start using Matter right away. Team members don't need to download anything or create an account — it's all through Slack's SSO.
Admins can add or remove users from the Matter-connected Slack channel, and Matter’s web app syncs with Slack every 24 hours to reflect membership updates.

Installing Matter in Slack has two parts: first, install the Matter app in your Slack workspace, then add Matter to a Slack channel. Teams can add Matter to an existing channel or create a new Matter channel during setup. Matter can also be transferred to a new Slack channel as teams evolve.

Yes. Matter can be added to a private Slack channel, either an existing channel or teams can create a new Matter channel and then make it private after setup.
Yes. Matter works with Slack Connect, supports multiple Matter-connected channels, and supports Slack Enterprise Grid setups for larger organizations. In Enterprise Grid, each Matter-connected channel can have its own settings for things like Feedback Friday, kudos, celebrations, analytics, and more.
Users are added to or removed from Matter by add or remove users from the Matter-connected Slack channel. Slack Workspace Owners and Admins can also use Slack’s Default Channels feature to automatically add people to Matter in Slack for a Matter-connected public channel. If someone leaves the company and is removed from Slack, they are automatically removed from Matter.
